Me & You

Hello and happy Saturday to you!

Today I have my layout for Sketchabilities from sketch #88.  Its a fun one with so many possibilities!

Here is my take on it...

This is me and my better half, the love of my life!  For this layout I used Snowfall by BoBunny.  For my photos, I first cropped them and then transformed them into sepia tone to fit my layout properly .  If, by chance, you are looking for a photo program, try Picasa.  Its fabulous and its free!

Before adding my pictures I placed a felt gate, made by Prima, to the background paper.  For my cluster, I used two Prima bouquet flower sets in different colors and then layered them with butterflys of contrasting colors, adding pearls as their bodies.

My title was cut from my Silhouette Cameo.  Behind my title you will notice the brown inked dots, I used my roller stamp to make them.  I just rolled the stamp with brown ink and rolled away, directly onto my paper.  They look identical to the brown & blue dots along the border, dont they?  But they are not!  I then added brown pearls along one of the dot trail.

I did the same inked effect with my roller stamp behind the journal tag and then added a butterfly, a pearl for its body and also as a flying trail following along some of the inked dots.

Well, I hope I have inspired you in some way.  If you can, make your way over to Sketchabilities and join in.  As I said before, there are so many possibilities with this sketch and I'd love to see what you come up with!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Enjoy your Easter Sunday.

Best Dad Ever

Hello!  Hello!  Happy Monday to you!

With it being Monday that means its time to reveal a new sketch at Lets Get Sketchy!  I do hope you get a chance to visit and join along!

Here it is... March week 3 ...

and here is my take on it...

This is Frank and I have to admit he is the best dad ever!  Here he is modeling my son's silly glasses and police helmet... and take a look at his t-shirt too!  This is just priceless!

For this layout I used Sketchbook by Amy Tangerine.  I just love this collection with the doodle effect designs and the bright colors!

For my cluster I used Amy Tangerine cordinating accent and fabric stickers, adding a diamond bling flouish to top it off.

As for my lettering, it was plain chipboard in which I painted black to match.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you back!  Enjoy your day!

Oh Deer

Hello srappy friends!  Happy Monday to you!

I have here my layout for this weeks sketch #257 at Nuts About Sketches.  It's a 2-page layout but I chose to completed the right side only.  They post a new sketch every Monday so make your way over and join in.  Also check out the added inspiration from our talented design team!

Now on to the sketch ...

and here is my take...

This was such a beatiful sight when we caught this deer off guard.  She was eating and sunning herself on this hot July day and just watched us pass by as we were boating the Grass River in northern Michigan.  I love seeing this sort of thing.  Its just so peaceful.

For this layout I used Burlap/Dictionary by Simple Stories for my background paper.  I cut out various sized circles from Yearbook by Studio Calico and on the flipside was the yellow chevron print for my rectangle piece.

I used an x-large foam tree stamp by Donna Downey, brushing it with black metallic paint and stamping it directly onto my patterned paper and photo.  I then outlined it with black stickles.

I inked the edges of my circles and also added black lines with the colord lines to add more black into the layout.  I then placed decorative wooden buttons as an added accent.

To top it off, I placed wooden banners onto the dead space of my picture, adding some natural twine to fancy them up.

Again, go check out Nuts About Sketches and join in if you can.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sketchabilities new DT Reveal

Hello scrappy friends!
I am so excited to have made the design team at Sketchabilities!  And here it is, already our first reveal!  This is so exciting!  Be sure to check them out and the inspiration from the other new designers.

A new sketch is posted the 15th and 30th of every  month, giving you two weeks to complete the layout.  The top 5 viewed blogs will be featured on our next reveal and to be eligible for the giveaway you must enter each challenge by the due date.  For complete challenge rules go here.

Here is this weeks sketch #87...

and my take on it ...

This is our granddaughter, Molly, and on this day she was advertising, via her onesie, that she is "Grandpa's Girl". Aww... isn't she just the most beautiful baby?

I stayed pretty true to the sketch because I really liked it as is.  My background paper is loop de loop by We R Memory Keepers.  The borders are pre-stitched.

The layered hearts are glittery rubons by Royal Brush.  I rubbed them onto plain chipboard and cut them out, placing them one by one in a layered manner.

The ribbon is scrap that was found in my ribbon jar and the wooden shapes are Little Bo Peep by Crate Paper.  I am so addicted to all wooden accents.  I think they are so adorable!

I topped it off with a pearl flourish by Zva Creative.  Thats it!  I'm happy with the outcome and I really enjoy showing off Molly anytime I can!

I hope you find the time to check out Sketchabilities and join in with us.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Enjoy the day.

Merry Christmas to You

Hello Scrappy friends!  Happy Monday to you!

I have here a layout I created for Lets Get Sketcky using the March week 1 sketch.  We've also added a twist to this one.  You have to follow a color combo as well.  Oh what fun!  I just love color challenges!  Dont you?

Here is this week's sketch and the color combo...

and here is my take...

Here is my gang!  This was our Christmas card picture used on our 2012 Christmas cards.  We do this every year but with our new granddaughter joining the family, it can be quite exhausting trying to get a good shot between her moods.  I ended up taking over 300 shots!  I know it sounds like alot but I accomplished it quickly.  And the experience was so fun.  I'm looking forward to this years Christmas photo shoot!

On this layout I used St. Nick by BoBunny.  These Christmas papers were in my 'misc' paper file and I'm trying to use up my older stash that I just cant seem to part with.

The poinsettia flowers are by The Girls' Paperie and the tag stickers are by Hambly Studios.  I added a border by doodling around the edges with a gold gel pen as well.

I hope you can find the time to join us at Lets Get Sketchy!  At least stop by and check out all the inspiration from our talented design team!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Enjoy your day!

Nuts About Sketches new DT Reveal

Hello, Hello!  I have some happy news to share!

As of the 1st of February I am one of the newest design team members at Nuts About Sketches!  Today is our first reveal of the new design team!  This is so fun and exciting!  Please be sure to check them out and the new designers as well.  We've got a talented group of ladies.

The sketch shown was the one used when applying for the team and it's being used as our new DT reveal today...

and my take on it...

This is my daughter being my photography model during a photography class I took.  I really didnt learn much more than I already know about taking photographs but it was a fun experience and it gave me more 'bonding' time with my girl.

With this layout I used Miss Caroline by My Mind's Eye and as you can see, I stayed pretty true to the sketch because I liked it as is.

I did some fussy cutting with the butterflies and added some matching decorative brads to my cluster.

I wrapped one photo with contrasting bakers twine around the top to kill the dead space.  Also adding another brad to a flower that I cut out.

For the title and journaling, I cut up a pre-printed vellum page by Quick Quotes, making the name strip into a banner.  Its very rare to find my daughters name pre-printed anywhere!

I do hope you find the time to check out Nuts About Sketches and the new design team's inspiration and to join along as well.  Here is the list of the designers:  Any familiar names?

Lets Get Sketchy Birthday blog hop!

Hello and welcome!

Let’s Get Sketchy is turning ONE and to celebrate we are having a Birthday Bash Blog hop.  As you make your way along our hop to visit each of our DT blogs you will find lots of birthday inspired projects.   If you have arrived here from Melinda's blog, welcome to the LGS blog hop!! If you have stumbled across this by chance and want to play along then you can head back to the Let's Get Sketchy site to start at the beginning and to start collecting your Birthday challenge words. These words should be bolded on each DT member’s pages.

Can you believe Lets Get Sketchy is a year old??  I know I cant!  Wow!  To celebrate this first birthday I've created a simple and cute picture frame to go along with the birthday theme!

I just love the advice it gives!  "Start Each Day Like It's Your BIRTHDAY"  Think about it... wouldn't everyday be such a great day if we all did this?

The banner is made of chipboard that I cut into triangle shapes and painted, connecting the pieces with bakers twine.  I created the confetti by dipping a q-tip into the colored paint and randomly dabbing the paper to make it look as though confetti is falling.  I do like how the look turned out.

The title is sticker letters.  However, I had to paint the BIRTHDAY letters to pull together the matching confetti colors.  I added washi tape to the edges of the frame for more color and a felt butterfly to top it off!  Thats it!  Cute and simple!  Oh, btw, the frame is only a $1.99 at IKEA.  Great deal!

Dont forget that Lets Get Sketchy is also having a Birthday Bash Challenge.  Which is to create any birthday inspired project from examples you see on the DT pages.  If the designers project is a layout then do a lift of that page, if it’s a project of sorts then do that project.  You can pick from ANY DT member’s blog project for the hop.  Upload your finished product to the proper link at Lets Get Sketchy.  All entries are due by midnight, March 8th, 2013. CST.

Also, as you hop along the way you will find bolded clue words on each of the Design Team member’s blogs.  Once you have gathered all the words they will form a quote related to our Birthday. Tell us that quote by 'Emailing Us' at Lets Get Sketchy to get your name in the pot for an extra drawing.  A winner will be randomly selected and will win a nice bag of scrap goodies from Lets Get Sketchy.  As always there are rules for playing!  And the rules are:

1. You MUST be a follower of each LGS team members blog and leave a comment on each blog
2. You MUST also be a follower of the LGS blog.
Please make sure you visit the entire team, as some members are hosting additional blog challenges during the hop and offering their own extra goodies, so the more you play the more chances you have to win!

As an extra incentive for my blog I am giving away a RAK as well!!  A mixture of winter goodies!  Which includes ~ white puffy stickers by Me & My Big Ideas, metal tag lines by Karen Foster, ten 3x5 stencils by P inc., metallic gelatos colors by Faber Castell, winter title rubon by My Minds Eye and 12 pack printed flowers with brads by Heidi Grace.

For a chance to win these goodies, all you have to do is become a follower of my blog.  Thats it!  One lucky follower will be randomly chosen at the end of this hop so please be sure to check back on Monday, March 4 to see if you have won!  Good luck!  Dont forget to leave a comment as well, for more chances to win at Lets Get Sketchy!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Now its time for you to hop over to Sherri's blog to see what she has in store for you!  Here is the lineup in case you get lost along the way!
