miss you everyday

G'day scrappy friends and happy Tuesday to you!  It may be too early to ask this, but how is your week going so far?

Today I have sketch #90 from Sketchabilities.  Its a cool one!  So many possibilities!

and my take on it...

This is our cat, Giddy.  He has been a part of our family for 16 years and he recently passed away.  Its been a difficult thing for us to deal with and I miss him very much!

For this layout I used Lucille by Basic Grey.  Instead of using background banners, I used different sized paper strips.  I love how it turned out and this would be a great way to use up scraps.

For part of my title I stamped the word "miss" onto a shipping tag and added jute for the string.  This tag came from a kit and was pre-stamped with the hearts.  There is so so much  you can do with ordinary shipping tags.  Its so much fun to experiment with them.

The wooden branches came from a kit as well.  I am totally in love with all the wooden accents right now!  For the finishing touches I added cordinating flowers in a small cluster and some paper birds!

Thats it!  A pretty simple layout and so cute!  I especially love it on a white background.  That really makes all the colors pop!

Check out Sketchabilities and the other design team inspiration!  Join in too, if you can!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping to you!

So silly

G'morning scrappy friends!

Happy Monday to you and since it is the 5th one of the month, Let's Get Sketchy is giving their designers the opportunity to follow any sketch of their liking!  Oh how fun is this!

The one I chose is from Pretty Little Studios and here it is...

and here is my take...

This is my kids and I taking pictures of ourselves together and acting silly while doing so.  I so cherish these kinds of moments.  They are far and few in between anymore.

For this layout I used For The Record by Echo Park.  The colors are perfect for my picture.  The eye catcher is my flying path of the butterfly.  I just added bakers twine for that, tacking it down with liquid glue.

Here are a couple close up for better veiwing...

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Stop by Let's Get Sketchy and check out the other designers choices.  Its just full of inspiration!

I Became A Nana

Hello and happy Monday to you!

Its a new week and that means a new sketch is up at Nuts About Sketches and here I have my take on it...

This is me with my first granddaugher, Molly.  Becoming a grammie was one of the happiest days of my life.  I can not wait to share my life with her!

For this layout I used Dotty for You by Close to my Heart.  The embellishment cluster goodies are Little Bo Peep by Crate Paper.

I cut the paper into 3x3 squares, placing them into a grid.  I punched out hearts onto a few random squares and then traced around them with marker.

After placing my cluster I added some hemp twine, taping it behind the white cardstock.

That's it!  Pretty easy peasy but so so cute!  When you get the opportunity, please check out Nuts About Sketches and join in with this weeks sketch!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy scrapping!

Mollys first Christmas morning

Hello Hello scrappy friends!

What a cold and rainy day today!  This is the perfect kind of day to just say indoors and scrap and thats exactly what I did.  I finally completed my layout for The Paper Bakery's sketch.  I'm really cutting it close too, the deadline is tomorrow night!

Here is the sketch to follow...

and here is my take on it...

Ok, Ok, so its not Christmas time but if you know me, I never scrap in any particular order!

This is our granddaugher and this past Christmas was her first.  She spent the morning at Grammie's house and I just loved it up!  She is such a joy to have in our lives!  I just cant get enough of this lil' girl <3

For this layout I used St Nick by BoBunny.  Its an older line and thats another of my scrappy flaws, I just cant get rid of my older papers.  If I like them, I keep them and hopefully use them!

I added a couple white feathers to my Christmas flower and here is a closer look for you.  I liked the soft touch that it gave my layout.

Well, that is it for now!  I hope its inspired you in some way.  Hop on over to The Paper Bakery now and check them out!  There's not much time left to join in with this sketch but a new one will be added Monday.

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

you are Lovely today

Hello scrappy friends!  And happy Monday to you!  How was your weekend?  I had a birthday yesterday so my weekend was fabulous!  I spent it with family.  I just love when we are all together at home again!

Today is the 15th so that means a new sketch is up at Sketchabilities  and here it is...

and her is my take on it...

This is my daughter with her new "ombre" hair color.  Its all the rave going on right now with hair and she was right on it!  I was skeptical about it at first, but once I seen it I just loved it on her!  So gorgeous!

I used On Trend by Crate Paper for this layout.  The colors were perfect for the pictures!  For me, I scrap around my pictures, chosing colors that work for them.  It seems most choose their papers first and then pictures.  To all their own, right?  You've got to go with what works for you!

For part of my title I cut out the word "today" with my Sizzix.  Oh my goodness, I havent gotten that out in years!  It was my very first die cut stysem and I just cant get rid of it.  The font is called Curlie Girlie.  I coated it with glossy accents to give it that shiney effect.

On the sticker banner I stamped the date and with the year and I stamped it multiple times until the ink was gone.  I just love that effect!

Well, thats it for now.  I hope it has helped inspire you in some way, maybe enough to check out Sketchabilities and join in?  Please do so if you can.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Lights*Camera*Action

Hello Hello!  How was your weekend?  Mine was a good one!  It was my birthday yesterday so I spent it with family.  I just love that time with everybody home.
Today I have my layout for Nuts About Sketches, but first let me show you sketch #261 for this week...

and here is my take on it..

This is my friend and I attending a Steve Harvey taping in Chicago.  It was such a fun day and such a cool experience!  If you ever get an opportunity to attend any taping I highly recommend going.  Its so much fun!

I used Collectable by My Mind's Eye.  Look at how awesome these paper are!  I just love the bright bold colors.  So fun and perfect for my photos!

I used a doilie as my background circle and added some specialty vellum paper with gold dots by Crate Paper as a layer for a pop of shiny color.

For my title I used mini shimmer stickers by Making Memories and placed them in a solid straight line all the way across.  I absolutely love these letters!  They are the perfect mini size and are so versatile!  I then added a few wooden embellishments and a flare button for my finishing touches!

And thats it for now.  I'm really happy with the turnout and I hope it has inspired you to check out Nuts About Sketches and to join in with us!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your Monday!

Winter Fest 2013

Hello!  Hello!
Its Monday, so that means its time for a new sketch at Lets Get Sketchy!  If you like circles, this is the sketch for you!  I seem to struggle with circles so this wasnt one of my favorites to work with but it gets me out of my box, right?

Here is this weeks sketch...

and here is my take on it...

We have an annual Winterfest in our home town and I'm always in awe with the ice sculptures that fill our sidewalks for weeks.  My favorites this year were the cocktail and the diamond ring.  They are so cool to look at.  I make sure to view them every year!

With this layout I used Hot Chocolate by Fancy Pants.  With the craft background paper I spritzed it with a white mist in some areas, followed by a few drops of brown mist for added color.  For the circle I cut out the border edge of a white doilie with my exacto knive and spritzed it with brown mist.  Adding buttons and stickle dots as embellishments.

My glittery chipboard flowers were in my scrappy stash.  Even though they are flowers, I felt they fit this wintery layout and I was able to use up some of my stash!

My letters were a brown shade but I covered them with Distress stickles in Vintage Photo to make them a deeper brown and to add a glitter effect as well.  I just love stickles and I think I own every color!  Such a fun and easy way to add sparkle to your layouts!

When you get a chance, check out Lets Get Sketchy and join in if you can.  I'd love to see what you can do with circles.  I sure need the inspration for them!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!

So You

Hello and happy Monday to you! Ohh and Happy April Fool's Day!  Are you going to be pranking anybody today?

I have my first April layout for Lets Get Sketchy to share with you today!  But first, here is the sketch to follow...

and here is my take on it...

This is my daughter back in 2004.  It was a 'self portrait' kind of day and she was taking photo after photo of herself and these were a couple of my favorites.  This is so her, always taking pictures of herself and she was very good at it!

I turned the sketch and used On Trend by Crate Paper for this layout.  I just love the bold colors and felt that it fit my photos perfect!

For my cluster I used cordinating paper flowers and buttons by Crate Paper and the "B" circle sticker is the initial of my daughters name, Brenna.

The sticker letters are by October Afternoon, that I placed above my photo in the same angle, leaving the white centers in the o's and tracing them with black marker to make them stand out more.

That's it for now.  I hope I have inspired you in some way!  If you can, please join in with this week's sketch at Lets Get Sketchy.  Check them out for some more inspiring ideas too!

Thanks for stopping by!
